Larranaga named ACC coach of the year

'Canes coach honored for team's second-place finish

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes coach Jim Larranaga picked up a big honor on Sunday.

Larranaga was named Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the year by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

'Canes guard Sheldon McClellan was named to the All-ACC second team, Angel Rodriguez was named to the All-ACC third team and Tonye Jekiri was named to the All-ACC defensive team. Jekiri also received All-ACC honorable mention.

This is Larranaga's second ACC coach of the year award. He also won in 2013.

The 'Canes finished tied for second in the conference. They open play in the ACC Tournament on Thursday night.
