Reserve guard James Palmer transferring from Miami

Sophomore from Washington, D.C., averaged 3.6 points, 1.3 rebounds

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami reserve guard James Palmer is leaving the basketball team and transferring from the school.

Head coach Jim Larranaga announced Monday that Palmer has decided to transfer.

"We thank James for his contributions to the Miami basketball program over the past two seasons," Larranaga said. "We wish him the best in his future."

Palmer played in 72 games during his two seasons at Miami, averaging 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game.

The 6-foot-5, 202-pound sophomore from Washington, D.C., was a bench player for the Hurricanes (27-8) during much of his time in Coral Gables.

Miami's season came to an end in a 92-69 loss to Villanova in the Sweet 16.
