Marlins' Stanton wins National League MVP Award

MIAMI – Giancarlo Stanton has been named the National League's Most Valuable Player. Now the question is, how much longer will he actually be with the team?

Major League Baseball announced on Thursday night that Stanton had been named the MVP after his stellar 2017 season. Stanton batted .281 with 59 home runs and 132 RBIs. Stanton becomes the first Marlins player to ever win the award. However, it comes as trade rumors continue to swirl around the slugger and it appears likely that he has played his last game in a Marlins uniform.

New part-owner Derek Jeter did little to dispel the trade rumors at this week’s owners meetings. Stanton has $295 million left on the $325 million contract that he signed back in 2014.
