Against Georgia Tech, Miami had the lead with under 40 seconds left in the game.

Miami simply had to kneel down to win it.

Instead, the Hurricanes ran the football and Don Chaney Jr. fumbled.

Georgia Tech went 75 yards down the field and beat the Canes 23-20.

Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke said Tuesday, “Overall we had 450 yards offense but just the critical moments of the game at key times, really hurt us... Putting that game in the past. Yeah it sucks, we know we should’ve won the game, we have a tough matchup this week and we have to get ready for that.”

Van Dyke said he wishes Miami could’ve learned the lessons they did from Georgia Tech, while still winning the football game.

Van Dyke added, “We have to execute better, we have to make more plays. We’re just getting better in practice at doing that.”

After the crushing loss, Van Dyke said the team had a leadership meeting to put the Yellow Jackets game behind them.

Van Dyke said, “I have the utmost faith in the coaching staff... not worried about that. They’re going to do the best they can to help us succeed.”

As for not taking a knee, Van Dyke said he was trusting the coaches and he doesn’t even want to talk about that.
