Marlins, Yankees agree on Stanton deal per reports

If deal approved, Stanton heading to New York

MIAMI – It appears the Miami Marlins have found a trading partner for outfielder GIancarlo Stanton.

According to multiple reports, the Marlins and Yankees have a deal in place to send Stanton to the Bronx.

In exchange, the Marlins would get infielder Starlin Castro and prospects.

The deal is pending Stanton’s approval.  The reigning NL Most Valuable Player has a no trade clause.

Stanton has already rejected potential deals to St. Louis and San Francisco.

However, according to multiple reports, Stanton would accept a deal to the Yankees.

The deal would also be pending a physical.

Neither team has confirmed the trade.

If it goes through, Stanton would join the American League home run leader Aaron Judge.

Combined, the two gigantic sluggers hit 111 home runs last year.

The Yankees were one win away from the World Series last year.

The Marlins new ownership group led by Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter have said publicly that they want to rebuild the team both on the field and financially.

Stanton has $296-million left on his contract.

Former owner Jeffrey Loria back loaded the deal before selling the team.

The Marlins have already traded Dee Gordon to Seattle for three prospects.

The Marlins are trying to rebuild a bereft minor league system in desperate need of prospects.
