Cooper doesn't hide what he's thinking with Cowboys rolling
Amari Cooper rejected the suggestion that Dallas' 44-20 win over New York was even more impressive because of a sloppy start that kept the last-place Giants in the game longer than they should have been. The receiver's reaction illustrates where the Cowboys think they can go after four consecutive victories coming off a last-second loss to Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay in the opener. “We don't need to have those mistakes,” said Cooper, who had a 24-yard touchdown catch.news.yahoo.com
Lower cap leads to more cuts than usual in NFL
(AP Photo/Tyler Kaufman, File)If it seemed as if NFL teams have been shedding contracts nearly as fast as signing them in recent weeks that’s because it’s almost true. “I think the unprecedented part being, for the first time in modern era, the cap decreases instead of increases,” Rams general manager Les Snead said. Adoree Jackson got a three-year deal worth a reported $39 million from the Giants after Tennessee refused to pay his $10.24 million fifth-year option. In one of the more curious cases, Miami cut Kyle Van Noy one year into his four-year, $51 million deal, leaving about $36 million unpaid. Van Noy then returned to New England on a two-year, $12 million deal and the Patriots will also get a fourth-round compensation pick in next month’s draft based on the deal Van Noy signed last March.

6-win Giants outlast Cowboys, stay in running for NFC East
Washington would claim the NFC East with a win or tie. “I won’t be caught dead in an Eagles hat," said receiver Sterling Shepard, the only player left from New York's last playoff appearance in 2016. Limited to 26 points over its previous three games, the Giants' 31st-ranked offense busted out with 239 yards and 20 points in the first half. Cowboys' Prescott acknowledges mental struggles of offseason
Prescott acknowledged the cause of Jace Prescott's death for the first time in a recent TV interview set to air this weekend. Cowboys' Prescott has eye on present without long-term deal
Dak Prescott stuck with his virtual hiatus trying to get a long-term contract that never came during the offseason. Im not a guy that looks at my future to be honest, Prescott said Wednesday, two days before the first practice of training camp for the Cowboys. He was an almost instant star with the Cowboys, winning 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year as a fourth-round pick who replaced injured 10-year starter Tony Romo during his first preseason. The Cowboys made the hotel available to their players, and Prescott estimated 90% of them had essentially agreed to create their own bubble. The Cowboys cleared their COVID-19 reserve list early this week by activating WR Jon'Vea Johnson and CB Saivion Smith.
