Dozens of protestors gathered at Miami’s West End Park Saturday, marching to the home of Sen. Marco Rubio. Debbie Wasserman Schultz defeats Carla Spalding in Florida 23rd Congressional District
PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Debbie Wasserman Schultz has won reelection in Florida 23rd Congressional District, retaining her seat in the House of Representatives. “To be elected to a ninth term fills my heart,” Wasserman Schultz, 54, said Tuesday night. “I’m looking forward to going back to Washington and fighting for the issues that matter to my constituents. Wasserman Schultz, who was first elected to Congress in 2004, serves on the House’s Committee on Appropriations and Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Her opponent, Republican Carla Spalding, was attempting to use the incumbent’s experience against her, campaigning that Wasserman Schultz is “the definition of a career politician” who doesn’t relate with everyday people in the community.
