CHANNING DUNGEY

Study: TV industry falls short of off-camera inclusivity

(Photo by Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP, File)LOS ANGELES – When Zendaya won last month’s Emmy Award for top drama series actress, her triumph seemed to underscore the TV industry’s progress toward inclusivity. That's most notable in Hollywood's executive suites, where little has changed since the UCLA study tallied the numbers five years ago, he said. While they made gains in those and most other on- and off-camera jobs, they remain underrepresented in nearly all. “We've come a long way in that regard” from UCLA's first study of the 2011-12 season, Hunt said.

Veteran TV executive Channing Dungey jumps to Warner Bros.

Dungey has been named chairman, Warner Bros. Television Group, starting her tenure at the studio early next year. Television Group after tenures at ABC and Netflix in which she shepherded hit series including “Scandal." She resigned earlier this month, sparking reports that she was destined for Warner Bros. She joins Pearlena Igbokwe, head of NBC Universal’s television studios, as a rare Black executive in charge of a TV studio.

Fresh off ratings bonanza, 'Roseanne' gets renewed for another season

Fresh off the success of its premiere Tuesday night, the reboot of "Roseanne" has been renewed for another season by ABC. "The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can't wait to see what the 'Roseanne' team has in store for next year." The two-part premiere was watched by more than 18 million viewers and scored a 5.1 rating, according to Nielsen. Roseanne Barr and the entire cast from the original run returned for the most-recent season.
