A woman from Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood is facing a series of felony charges after Miami-Dade police accused her of a bizarre series of crimes, beginning with a stolen pressure washer and ending with a burning Mazda in a farm field.
Miami-Dade firefighters respond to ‘dangerous’ gas station fire
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade firefighters responded to a very dangerous fire on Tuesday in Miami-Dade’s Country Walk area. Dan Stewart was driving when he spotted black smoke coming from the dangerous fire at the Chevron gas station in the corner of Southwest 137th Avenue and 152nd Street. Stewart said flames were engulfing a gas pump.
Cloudy day might have saved children’s lives, father says after car flies over pool
Carlos and Carolina Lago said they were glad it did because a driver could have killed their 11-year-old daughter and two-year-old son. Surveillance video shows their toys were inches away from danger. Just after two maintenance workers walked away from the Lago’s pool, a driver plowed through the fence. Surveillance video shows the driver was going so fast the Toyota RAV4 flew over the pool from side to side and destroyed two fences. His neighbor, he said, also suffered property damage during seven similar crashes.
Beware of rising online rental listing scams
MIAMI – When John Sabina was in the market for a house rental he searched online listings and stumbled upon a great home in the Country Walk area of Miami-Dade County. The supposed homeowner had moved to Scotland and said the monthly rental price was $1,400, utilities included. Sabina contacted his sister Juliana Sabina Morejon who is a realtor with the Keller Williams-Coral Gables/Coconut Grove office. The person Sabina was corresponding with wanted him to send money through a website called DepositProtection.com It's a service for landlords in England and Wales.
