There weren’t any police officers or code enforcement officers in the area to encourage social distancing. Fort Lauderdale held a virtual celebration with live music and a small fireworks display near City Hall. Some Broward residents were also able to see a light display at The Guitar Hotel in Hollywood. Broward County officials estimated 940,000 tourists visited the area during the last weeks of December.
