(AP Photo/Chris Pizzello, FILE)LONDON – Dave Prowse, the British weightlifter-turned-actor who was the body, though not the voice, of arch-villain Darth Vader in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, has died. Prowse died Saturday after a short illness, his agent Thomas Bowington said Sunday. Prowse donned Darth Vader's black armor and helmet for “Star Wars” (1977), “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980) and “Return of the Jedi" (1983). He was a regular at “Star Wars” fan events but was banned from official conventions by Lucas in 2010 after the pair fell out.

'The Mandalorian' Season 2 premiere is a strong start

The premiere episode of the second season of Disney's first "Star Wars" live-action spin-off, " The Mandalorian , " has aired and it does not disappoint. The original " Star Wars " saga was heavily influenced by the Western genre, and George Lucas had ideas for his movies that were way ahead of their time. Some things feel familiar and some things feel completely new, but it all still feels like "Star Wars." We learn that apparently there's another Mandalorian on Tatooine, so it looks like we're headed to the Outer Rim Territories.

4 things Disney should keep in mind when making the next Star Wars trilogy

A scene from "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Source: Star WarsThe result was "The Last Jedi." To be sure, the original Star Wars trilogy had some sloppy storytelling arcs, but that was because it was never guaranteed that any of them would get a sequel. Matt Singer, from Screen Crush, wrote Monday in piece about the number of ancillary materials required to understand the latest Star Wars film. Star Wars movies, as Lucas has said repeatedly, are meant to be for kids. The show is based in the Star Wars universe, set in the years after "Return of the Jedi" and has elements of a traditional Star Wars tale, but it's also innovative and fresh.
