Tanker truck rolls over, spills 9,000 gallons of fuel on I-95
Lt. Yanko Reyes, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, said the tanker flipped over about 7:15 a.m. and spilled 9,000 gallons of fuel all over I-95. “By rolling over, all of the fuel spilled onto I-95 northbound and southbound,” Reyes said. Man, woman pronounced dead after victims pulled from car in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Two people were killed Friday morning in a crash in Hollywood, authorities confirmed. The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred in the eastbound lanes of Hollywood Boulevard near the Interstate 95 exit ramp. The second car rolled over and came to a final rest under the I-95 overpass. An FHP report stated that inside the second vehicle was a 62-year-old man and his 64-year-old passenger. According to the report, the driver who caused the collision and the 31-year-old man who was a passenger in his car were both hospitalized with serious injuries.
Car swerves to miss falling couch, crashes; driver ticketed
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A couple driving home from Florida escaped serious injury when they swerved to avoid a couch that fell from a truck on Interstate 95. But they couldn’t avoid a $166 traffic ticket for “failing to drive in a single lane.”Jake Singer says his girlfriend was driving Feb. 20 when she swerved to avoid the couch, their car striking a median and flipping over. He says they were taken to the hospital, where a trooper showed up with the ticket. A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said that while it’s a tough break for the couple, troopers have discretion when issuing citations and drivers are supposed to maintain control of their vehicles.
Chase ends on I-95 ramp when driver of stolen truck tries to make U-turn, according to police
NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A police pursuit that began near Miami Shores ended on a ramp on Interstate 95 in Northeast Miami-Dade late Wednesday afternoon after a Miami-Dade police vehicle collided with a stolen pickup truck. According to Miami-Dade police, the pursuit began at 2:35 p.m. when detectives spotted a stolen pickup truck in the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 81st Street. The driver exited the northbound I-95 ramp at Northwest 103rd Street, where he then attempted to make an illegal U-turn on the ramp, according to MDPD. An officer’s vehicle went in with a dramatic pit maneuver, colliding head-on with the pickup truck and forcing the suspect behind the wheel to stop. The truck was quickly surrounded by officers with guns drawn and the suspect was placed into custody.
Detectives seek information about fatal I-95 road rage incident
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives are asking for anyone with information about a fatal road rage incident that occurred last week on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County to come forward. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office officials said Christopher Michael Maassen, 29, was fatally shot on Friday while driving in the northbound lanes of the highway near Donald Ross Road. Authorities said Maassen was involved in an altercation with another driver when the other driver shot him. The other driver, whose identity has not been released, was detained for questioning, but he has not been arrested and it’s unclear whether he will face charges. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have videotaped or photographed any moments leading up to the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
Officers search for occupants of Maserati after I-95 crash in Miami-Dade
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Officers are searching for two suspects after several vehicles, including a blue Maserati, crashed on Wednesday while traveling northbound on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County. According to Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, the four occupants of the Maserati fled the crash scene near 151st Street. North Miami Beach police officers detained two out of four suspects, Camacho said. The officers were near Thomas Jefferson Middle School at 525 NW 147 St., in Golden Glades. Woman fatally struck by car on I-95 while trying to cross highway
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A woman was fatally struck by a car Thursday morning on Interstate 95 in Pompano Beach while attempting to cross the highway, authorities confirmed. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-95 at Copans Road. Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Yanko Reyes said the pedestrian was struck in the center lane. All northbound lanes were shut down after the crash. By 7 a.m., traffic was slowly getting by in the left shoulder.
FHP: Driver runs away after crashing into 2 vehicles on I-95

The crash was reported in the southbound lanes of the highway just south of Pembroke Road in Hallandale Beach. Florida Highway Patrol officials said the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz rear-ended a Jeep and a Hyundai. Another vehicle sustained damaged when it was struck by a piece of debris. Pregnant woman shot on I-95 in Hallandale Beach
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Hallandale Beach. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman who is pregnant were traveling in a silver Mercedes-Benz just north of Hallandale Beach Boulevard when they were shot at just after 1 a.m. Troopers said the couple was traveling in the left lane when a silver Chevrolet SUV approached the vehicle from the right side and shot multiple times into their car. Troopers said the woman was shot once in the right thigh. Troopers said the driver of the Chevy SUV continued traveling north on I-95 without stopping.

Man shot on I-95 while driving mother to work at Jackson Memorial Hospital
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after a man was shot on Interstate 95 Friday morning while driving his mother to work at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The victim’s mother, Blair Charles, told Local 10 News reporter Parker Branton that she and her son, Julien Charles, 25, were heading south on I-95 near 95th Street when they were shot at by an unknown person. “Suddenly we hear, ‘Bop, bop, bop, bop,’” she said. Blair said she and Julien ducked in their car and she quickly realized that her son had been shot at least four times. Julien drove himself and his mother to North Shore Medical Center as Blair was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.

Adult, child extricated from SUV after it rolled over on I-95
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – An adult and child were extricated from an SUV Monday morning after the vehicle rolled over on Interstate 95 in Delray Beach. West Park shooting leads to pursuit that ended in multi-vehicle crash on I-95
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A shooting in Broward County Wednesday morning led to a pursuit that ended in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County, authorities confirmed. St. Louis said deputies responded and saw a gray Nissan with four people inside leaving the area. Deputies chased the vehicle onto the southbound lanes of I-95 and the suspects’ vehicle crashed, causing the multi-vehicle wreck off Ives Dairy Road, she said. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. St. Louis said the driver of the Nissan was arrested and the three passengers inside the vehicle were detained for questioning.
Driver rear-ends car on I-95 causing it to flip, hits 2nd car, takes off on foot

2 drivers shot at on I-95 Friday morning in separate incidents, FHP investigating
Two cars with bullet holes and two drivers on Interstate 95, both happening around 11 a.m. Friday, and FHP said there were about 12 shots fired. It started in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 when a driver called police to tell them he needed help because someone shot out his back window. FHP arrived to the scene where the SUV driver had pulled over, near Exit 11, the Northwest 151st Street exit. We counted at least 7 bullet holes in the Dodge Challenger. Police still continue to search for clues and suspects in the random killing of Melissa Gonzalez, who was shot Jan. 3 while driving on Interstate 95.
Police chase, bailout ends with suspects detained in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police followed a stolen car, which turned into a chase that ended in Broward County and created an active scene on Sheridan Street in Hollywood around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. Sky 10 was over the scene as the driver exited off of Interstate 95, then stopped the car. Someone bailed out of a black Mercedes-Benz sedan and took off running in a residential area. According to reports on the ground, a K-9 unit sniffed out the suspect hiding in a shed. Local 10 is gathering information as to what led to this chase and arrests.

MIAMI – A Miami police officer was involved in a car crash on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 on Tuesday morning near Brickell. With only one lane open about 6:30 a.m., there was a traffic backup stretching from the area of Southwest Seventh Street and 25th Road. 20-year-old with suspended learner’s permit responsible for deadly hit and run, police say
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man driving with a suspended learner’s permit was arrested after a year-long investigation into a hit-and-run on Interstate 95. The victim, an Uber driver, was a good Samaritan who had stopped to help a disabled vehicle. Investigators said Fortin had stopped his car after he saw that a Chrysler PT Cruiser was smashed into a concrete median barrier. After helping the motorist, Fortin was returning to his vehicle, but as he crossed the highway a vehicle hit him and kept going. Hollywood Police found the Camry abandoned along the inside shoulder of the Hollywood Boulevard exit ramp.
Fort Lauderdale Planet Fitness shut down, deemed unsafe after flooding
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Heading out to Planet Fitness for a workout today? If your favorite location is just off of Broward Boulevard and west of Interstate 95, it is shut down following a water main break. City of Fort Lauderdale employees joined Fire Rescue crews in heading out to Planet Fitness and, after trying several things to stop the flooding, they were forced to shut off the system for the entire complex in order to stem the flow. Unfortunately, the gym has been deemed unsafe and will be closed for an interminable amount of time. Planet Fitness told Local 10 that members who are used to working at this location can go to any other Planet Fitness in Broward and Miami Dade counties.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A deadly crash Wednesday night on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County caused a traffic mess for the rush-hour crowd. Woman wanted for DUI manslaughter in Broward County picked up in Pennsylvania
BERKS COUNTY, Pa. – A woman accused of causing a fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Pompano Beach a year ago was picked up in Pennsylvania and is now behind bars. A task force for the Berks County Sheriff’s office said Armide Armand was seen leaving her residence in Reading, Pa., and was stopped at a convenience store not far from her home. She was arrested on a charge of DUI manslaughter, according to Berks County Sheriff Eric J. Weaknecht, and will be extradited back to Florida. Armand, who was a resident of Miami Gardens at the time, was not seriously injured. Marshal Task Force received information that Armand, who was wanted for felony DUI Manslaughter by Broward County authorities, was in the area and put her under surveillance.
Man lucky to be alive after metal crashes through windshield on I-95
That’s what happened to Eduardo Rivera on Tuesday and he believe’s it’s a miracle he’s alive. Rivera said he was driving home from work on Interstate 95 in Delray Beach when a flatbed tow truck pulled in front of him. Stunned and still unsure of what had happened, Rivera pulled over. right on top of him and not one single piece of glass fell in his eyes. A driver traveling southbound hit the 58-year-old Fort Lauderdale man, whose name has not been released, just after 8:30 p.m., according to investigators.
