Staley agreed to become the Los Angeles Chargers' coach on Sunday night after one season as the defensive coordinator for the crosstown Rams. “It’s not just that Brandon possesses a tremendous football mind that makes him the ideal head coach to lead our team forward,” general manager Tom Telesco said in a statement. He is the third assistant under Rams coach Sean McVay to get an NFL head coaching job, joining Green Bay's Matt LaFleur and Cincinnati's Zac Taylor.
Moore ends pursuit of Boise State job, staying with Cowboys

The 32-year-old Moore was a candidate at his alma mater after Bryan Harsin took the Auburn job. Moore was the winningest quarterback in college football history with a 50-3 record when he left Boise State in 2011.

Baltimore's fourth straight victory, combined with Pittsburgh's win over Indianapolis, lifted the Ravens past the Colts in the AFC wild-card hunt. With a victory in Cincinnati next week, the Ravens (10-5) will earn a playoff berth for the third year in a row. The Giants (5-10) lost their third straight and were left with only a miniscule chance of making the postseason.

Mayfield was sharp all night, helping the Browns (10-4) bounce back from a 47-42 loss to Baltimore last Monday night. The win got the Browns closer to clinching their first playoff spot since 2002, the NFL’s longest drought. New York's opening drive stalled at the 8 after McCoy's throw to Evan Engram fell incomplete in the end zone. It could've worked, too: Kicker Graham Gano was wide open in the end zone.

The Giants (3-7) are heading into a bye week with the new offensive line starting to play well. DeGuglielmo interviewed to be the offensive line coach after Judge was hired. When the Giants hired former Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to be the offensive coordinator, Colombo followed him here.

Prescott reached for the leg as he writhed in pain, and TV images showed his right foot bent at an awkward angle away from his leg. Three of Graham Gano's four field goals were from at least 50 yards for the Giants, from 55, 50 and 54. Cowboys: DT Trysten Hill was carted off with a right knee on New York's first drive of the second half.

Rams hold off Giants 17-9; Ramsey, Tate fight after game
Ramsey and Tate scuffled at midfield after the final whistle after a game filled with trash-talking between the two Nashville-area natives. Ramsey has two young children with Tate's sister, and Tate was publicly upset last year when the couple went through a nasty public breakup. Ramsey and Tate both walked toward midfield when the game ended, and they immediately took swings at each other, eventually going to the turf in a heap. Cowboys' Prescott signs $31M tag, still time for longer deal
Dak Prescott plans to be at training camp with the Dallas Cowboys, if and when it starts, on the richest one-year contract in franchise history. Prescott signed his $31.4 million tender under the franchise tag Monday. By signing the offer under the franchise tag, Prescott is obligated to report for all team activities or risk being fined. The two-time Pro Bowler started his rookie season third on the depth chart after getting drafted in the fourth round out of Mississippi State. Despite missing the playoffs again last season, Prescott had career bests with 4,902 yards passing and 30 touchdowns.
NFL releases its 2020 schedule as other major league sports remain suspended

On Monday, the NFL also announced it would forgo its planned International Series Games this season due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Garrett has been at team headquarters off and on since the season ended, according to two people familiar with the situation. The decision figured to be a difficult one for Jones, who hired Garrett as offensive coordinator before naming Wade Phillips coach in 2007. When Dallas finished the season 5-3, it was almost a foregone conclusion that Garrett would get the permanent job.
