(Between the foot of Mauna Kea and the summit measures 10,000 meters, making it the "tallest" mountain in the world.) Currently, there are 13 other telescopes that exist on the mountain, but Momoa says they're not as large and they're mostly non-functioning. I actually didn't get run over by a bulldozer, that's what's amazing about the whole thing," he laughs.

CNN video(CNN) - Protesters trying to stop construction of a giant telescope atop Hawaii's tallest mountain were visited by The Rock last week. Actor Jason Momoa, who has born in Hawaii, visited the hundreds of demonstrators encamped at the base of Mauna Kea on the Big Island on Wednesday. Mauna Kea -- which rises more than 13,000 feet above sea level and is already home to a number of telescopes -- is considered sacred ground by some Native Hawaiians. Protesters got support from The RockDwayne Johnson made a surprise visit to the Mauna Kea camp late last month to lend his support. It featured a picture of some of the older Mauna Kea protesters with the message "I love you Hawaii, and I'm with you" and the hashtag #protectmaunakea.

(CNN) - Jason Momoa doesn't technically turn 40 for a few more days, but that didn't stop his friends from throwing him a surprise bash to help him celebrate another year. In a video posted to YouTube, Momoa appears shocked to discover some of his dearest gathered in one space. At one point, he Facetimes his wife, Lisa Bonet, to show her the scene, including a slideshow his friends put together. Over the weekend, Clarke shared a photo on Instagram alongside her former on-screen husband.
