The NCAA has a chronic problem with undervaluing women, writer and host Jemele Hill said Friday — and the latest controversy over weight room discrepancies puts a spotlight on that inequality. A Stanford University sports performance coach posted photos to Twitter Thursday revealing inequities between the women's and men's weight rooms. The photos, posted by Ali Kershner, a coach with the Stanford women's basketball and golf teams, showed the women's weight room facility at the NCAA bubble in San Antonio — a rack of dumbbells and some yoga mats. The men's weight room facility, at their NCAA bubble in Indianapolis. The NCAA's Vice President of Women's Basketball Lynn Holzman said later Friday the organization is reviewing how to adjust square footage and provide more training opporunities.

YouTube announces lineup for discussions on racial justice

LOS ANGELES – Mark Cuban, Anthony Anderson and Skylar Diggins-Smith will take part in a series of panel discussions on YouTube that are focused on racial justice. Common and Keke Palmer return as hosts of the forum, which will include sports figures, entertainers and activists. Diggins-Smith will appear on panel with reporter Jemele Hill and activist Harry Edwards about athletes’ impact on today’s political movement. “It is so important that we keep a dialogue about racial justice going beyond any particular moment,” Palmer said. “I want to encourage my peers to continue to have thoughtful and powerful conversations that will lead us to change.

National Association of Black Journalists Should Help Create African-American News Network

Over the next four days, black journalists, media executives, and celebrities will take over the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura for the annual National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair. We need to purchase our own African-American sports network inspired by people like Hill so black reporters like Stephen A. Smith aren't the only voice for the African-American community. If CNN and MSNBC were really for the black agenda, they would turn journalists like Martin loose. The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is fighting for more African-Americans and other minorities in leadership positions at large media companies. She and others like her do more to turn off the average African-American than the racist brigade at Fox News.
