Kit Harington confirmed for role in Marvel's 'The Eternals'
ANAHEIM, California (CNN) - Kit Harington has been confirmed for a role in Marvel's "The Eternals," bringing the "Game of Thrones" star into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Harington will play Dane Whitman, aka the heroic Black Knight, in the movie. That's not one of the characters known as the Eternals in the comics, which were created by Jack Kirby. Deadline had reported that Harington would be joining the Marvel stable, without any details about in what capacity. Friday, the studio unveiled a lineup of Marvel and "Star Wars"-related series for its streaming service, Disney+.
Sony, Marvel fail to reach rights agreement over Spider-man
Sony (SNE) and Marvel have failed to reach an agreement on the character of Spider-Man -- meaning he'll be absent from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the time being and leaving fans very worried. Sony has said it is "disappointed" that talks, aimed at extending a deal that allowed the superhero to appear in Marvel movies, fell through. But Marvel Studios, the arm of the company that produces its movies, doesn't own his film rights. That's because Marvel put those up for sale in the 1980s, when superhero movies weren't the surefire moneymakers they are today. "Spider-Man," played in 2002 by Tobey Maguire, quickly became a huge box office success for Sony, and arguably prompted Marvel to enter the superhero flick game themselves.
