The pandemic has fundamentally reshaped this year's presidential election, prompting both parties to ditch their traditional arena-style conventions. Instead, what he mostly got in his social media feeds were posts from left-leaning friends, trolls and memes disparaging Republican convention speakers. In South Carolina, one grassroots Trump backer hosted mask-wearing fellow supporters at a watch party in Aiken County. But other Republicans like Emma Scott, a University of South Carolina junior, opted to keep their distance. Google Doodle celebrates 50 years since moon landing

Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Collins began their mission July 16, 1969, launching from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin departed on the lunar module, called the "Eagle," which would separate from the command module to make the 13-minute descent to the surface of the moon. Collins waited on the other side of the moon from the comfort of the command module that would take all three men home. In the words immortalized on the plaque they planted on the moon: "We came in peace for all mankind."

They will mark the precise moment - 9:32 a.m. on July 16, 1969 - that their Saturn V rocket departed on humanity's first moon landing. It kicks off eight days of golden anniversary celebrations for each day of Apollo 11's voyage. Also Tuesday morning, 5,000 model rockets are set to launch simultaneously at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
