Bookish: Natalie Portman to chair National Library Week
NEW YORK – Natalie Portman's latest role is on behalf of the country's libraries. The Oscar-winning actress will serve as honorary chair of National Library Week, the American Library Association announced Monday. National Library Week runs next April 4-10. Portman will help promote the role libraries have played in their communities during the pandemic. “I’m delighted to join ALA and libraries everywhere in celebrating National Library Week,” Portman said in a statement.

For her next writing project, Portman is hoping to tackle something in her son's comfort zone, perhaps a graphic novel.
Laila Ali salutes social activism of athletes with awards

Ali was to host the virtual Women’s Sports Foundation awards on Wednesday night, recognizing athletes and leaders working toward social justice and racial equality. “I think all people should take a stand,” Ali told The Associated Press. Michael Douglas, Zeta-Jones to co-host Jerusalem ceremony
JERUSALEM – Hollywood power couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are set to return to Israel as co-hosts of this year’s Genesis Prize ceremony. The Genesis Prize Foundation announced on Wednesday that the pair would co-host the June 18 event, where former Soviet dissident and Israeli politician Natan Sharansky is to be honored as the 2020 laureate. Douglas, whose mother wasn’t Jewish and who himself is intermarried, directed his award toward projects promoting diversity and inclusiveness in the Jewish world. “Catherine and I look forward to returning to Israel, a country our entire family loves so much,” Douglas said in a statement. The foundation said that during Douglas’ visit, it will hold a special event honoring his father’s cinematic legacy.

The "Thor" actress basically lost her mind when she received a signed "Baby-Sitters Club" book, with a special note written by the author herself, Ann M. Martin. "I read every single Babysitter's Club book when I was a kid. Once when I was 9, I waited in line for hours at my local bookstore to meet Ann M Martin. As for her inscription, Martin wrote, "For Natalie Portman - BSC 4-ever!
Portman will bring the hammer as a female Thor in 'Love and Thunder'
Natalie Portman is making a comeback to the MCU's "Thor" franchise, but this time she gets her own shot at swinging the hammer. That's right, Lady Thor is here, and she's ready to bring the thunder. Marvel announced Saturday at Comic-Con International in San Diego that Portman would play a female Thor in the fourth installment of the franchise, titled "Thor: Love and Thunder." Portman previously romanced Hemsworth as astrophysicist Jane Foster in 2011's "Thor" and 2013's "Thor: The Dark World," although she did not appear in 2017's "Thor: Ragnarok." "I've always had hammer envy," Portman joked, according to Variety.
