Invalidations of Meghan's claims of racism hurt Black women
But for many Black women worldwide, the headlines and social media discussions were painfully familiar. With social media conversations questioning whether racism affected Meghan's treatment by the British press and royal family, many Black women say it is yet another example of a Black woman’s experiences with racism being disregarded and denied. AdFleary said the UK has a long history of dismissing Black women in conversations about racism. And that denial is something Black women face every day, she said. “Very often, Black women in conference rooms and offices experience discrimination and have no recourse, in the same way that one of the more powerful Black women in the world had no recourse except to give it all up,” McGhee said of Meghan.

World viewership of royals' interview nearly 50 million
It aired a night later in Britain, where ITV said it had 13.3 million viewers, a huge number for a smaller country. Powered by Winfrey and royals, CBS won the week with an average of 6 million viewers in prime time. ABC had 3.5 million, NBC had 3.2 million, Fox had 2.5 million, Univision had 1.3 million, Ion Television had 1.1 million and Telemundo had 1 million. MSNBC had 1.88 million, TNT had 1.41 million, CNN had 1.25 million and HGTV had 1.11 million. ABC's “World News Tonight” won the evening news ratings race with an average of 9.3 million viewers.

AdMorgan, 55, said Monday on “Good Morning Britain” during a discussion about Meghan's revelations that "I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says. That drew criticism from many, including the mental health charity Mind, which said it was disappointed and concerned by Morgan’s comments on not believing Meghan’s experiences about having suicidal thoughts. He joined “Good Morning Britain” in 2015.
Larry King, broadcasting giant for half-century, dies at 87
