Experts, city officials hoping for restoration after pollution kills thousands of fish in Biscayne Bay
After witnessing more than 4,000 pounds of dead fish that have been pulled out of the water by a contractor working for Miami Dade county, experts said on Tuesday they believe the fish kill is coming to an end but are also investigating the matter at hand.

13 passengers to stay aboard Coral Princess
MIAMI, Fla. – Despite continued efforts through diplomatic channels, 13 international guests will stay aboard the Coral Princess with crew members for a self-imposed 14-day quarantine. The passengers will stay on board and be monitored to reduce the possibility of transmission if either guests or crew become symptomatic. The cruise line said additional members boarded the Coral Princess Thursday to assist in the quarantine. Coral Princess left the Port of Miami Thursday around 7 p.m.Five charter flights were scheduled for departure Thursday for the remaining passengers who were allowed to disembark. Princess Cruises did not offer information as to what countries the passengers were from, or where the ship was headed after leaving Miami’s port.

MIAMI – About 90 international passengers remain aboard the Coral Princess ship at PortMiami, as others left Tuesday on nine additional domestic charter flights, a spokesperson for Princess Cruises said. Princess Cruises confirmed two people on board died while the ship was at sea and there were 12 cases of the new coronavirus. A third passenger, Wilson Maa, of California, died at a Hialeah hospital Saturday night after waiting for hours to be taken off the ship. The cruise line said 545 guests disembarked Coral Princess on Sunday and another 139 left Monday, leaving 274 on board. According to the spokesperson, Coral Princess departed March 5 from San Antonio (Santiago) for a South America voyage, which was scheduled to end in Buenos Aires on March 19.

Some 380 cleared passengers got on board a fleet of buses with their luggage wearing masks and gloves. That message coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who is mandating that cruise passengers not take commercial flights and they must all take charter flights. “As of April 4, 2020, CDC has updated its recommendations to help US cruise ship travelers get home as quickly and safely as possible during the COVID-19 Pandemic. CDC recommends that cruise ship travelers with no symptoms or mild symptoms disembark as quickly and safely as possible at US ports of entry.
65 crew and passengers remain quarantined aboard ship in Port Miami
MIAMI, Fla. – Christine Beehler is one of 1,020 passengers that arrived into the Port of Miami aboard the Coral Princess Saturday morning. Since March 31, the Coral Princess has been in isolation. The Coral Princess’ original destination was Port Everglades, but the U.S. Coast Guard denied their entrance to Fort Lauderdale. The captain of the Coral Princess made this announcement to passengers as the ship pulled into the port. They will have to quarantine aboard the ship.

In approving the item sponsored by Rebeca Sosa by a final vote Nov. 19, commissioners would also authorize Mayor Carlos Gimnezs office negotiate those terms with Virgin Trains, which still operates as Brightline. For the first 10 years of the agreement, Virgin would agree to not operate a train station at any other seaport. Next month will mark a year since Florida East Coast Industries announced plans to rename its Brightline passenger rail service as Virgin Trains USA, part of a partnership with British billionaire Richard Bransons Virgin Group. But despite rebranding its downtown Miami hub in April, the company in its official communications still goes by its original moniker, with soon to be Virgin Trains after.
