The NFL has prioritized helmet safety amid growing concerns over the long-term impacts of concussions. A total of $3 million has been made available in the "NFL Helmet Challenge," including $2 million in grant funding to support the development of a helmet prototype and a further $1 million prize for the winner. "The NFL Helmet Challenge represents an unprecedented combination of financing, research, data and engineering expertise in an effort to create a more protective helmet. The challenge kicks off with a symposium held on Nov. 13-15 in Youngstown, Ohio, for NFL officials and entrants, where they will be provided with information on current helmet technology and NFL concussion research data.

Rob Gronkowski announced he is becoming an advocate for CBD and will partner with Abacus Health Products, maker of CBDMEDIC Topical Pain Products, on Aug. 27, 2019, in New York City. Rob Gronkowski, it appears, will remain retired from pro football after announcing Tuesday that he is partnering with a Canadian cannabidiol company to promote CBD products as athletic supplements.
