The 5-year-old male elephant died early Friday morning, days after the sudden death Tuesday of his younger brother, Ajay. Ajay died just before his second birthday. Both died from Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpes Virus, a strain of herpes that targets Asian elephants. The zoo, one of 11 approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to breed Asian elephants, has six adult elephants.

The city itself will pay the Foster family only $500,000. The Foster family is happy the truth has finally come out, Adant Pointer, a lawyer for the family, said Friday. True justice would be to see Officer McMahon walking into court as a criminal defendant. One year later, he was one of six officers who shot and killed McCoy, who was asleep in a car in a Taco Bell drive-through lane.
