Tapping into the universal experiences of parenting while figuring out how to manage your individual circumstances as a parent or caregiver is the idea behind The Childrens Trust Parent Club. The main goal of The Parent Club is to help you be the best parent you can be. Since last fall, more than 670 Parent Club workshops have been held at more than 230 locations, bringing together thousands of parents across the county. When coronavirus pandemic restrictions began across Miami-Dade in March, The Parent Club shifted its operations to the virtual world, conducting workshops online through Zoom. Now that Miami-Dade County is reopening cautiously, future plans for The Parent Club include both virtual and in-person workshops, when they are appropriate.

New free childrens book club expands to all Miami-Dade kids up to their 5th birthday

Since 2012, Miami-Dade County 3-year-olds have had access to a book club that offers a free book through the mail every month. The program, The Childrens Trust Book Club, sends a book in English or Spanish on a monthly basis to help prepare children for schooling and life success. Reading books with children supercharges their imagination, helps them develop language and listening skills and has been shown to improve performance in school. We know that the most critical phase of learning happens before kindergarten, said The Childrens Trust president and CEO James R. Haj. As for the books themselves, the book club includes classics, award-winners and picture books to engage even newborns and infants.
