May 27: An extended stormy weather pattern is setting up over South Florida

Wednesday is a transition day into a much wetter pattern as a rich river of moisture is about to move over Florida from the Caribbean. Expect a few spotty showers and thunderstorms, but many will stay dry. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s, which is average for this time of the year.

Starting Thursday, numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected each day. Some storms may be slow moving with pockets of flooding. There could also be a stronger storm or two with gusty winds and frequent lightning. This pattern will last each day through the weekend and well into next week. Widespread rainfall amounts of 4-8 inches is likely over the next week with locally higher totals possible.
