The National Hurricane Center on Saturday issued advisories for Tropical Depression Six, located about 525 miles southeast of the Azores.
The depression has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is slowly moving to the north at 2 mph.
Tropical Depression Six is forecast to strengthen over the next 24 hours into a tropical storm before gradually weakening early next week.
If it does become a tropical storm, the next name of the season is Fay.
This system is not a threat to land or the United States. The rest of the Atlantic remains quiet with no new tropical development expected over the next seven days.
Hurricane season ends on Nov. 30. So far this season there’s been five named storms and no hurricanes. This is the latest the Atlantic has ever gone without a hurricane.
