Suspect in custody after shooting man in back, Lauderhill police say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A Lauderhill shooting victim ran to a food store after taking a bullet to his back Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police said the shooting happened sometime after noon at an apartment building at 4051 NW 19th St., right next to the U-Save Food Store.

They said the victim, a man, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, but police didn’t know his condition as of about 1 p.m.

Police said they detained the suspected shooter and several witnesses remained on scene.

Authorities hadn’t publicly identified the suspect as of Tuesday afternoon or said whether they had determined a motive.
