BSO: 17-year-old arrested in connection with shooting that killed man in Tamarac

TAMARAC, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to the shooting that killed a man in Tamarac two months ago, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Police said 21-year-old Mateo Delgado was fatally shot while inside a vehicle near the 7000 block of Northwest 79th Avenue at the gated Bonaire at Woodmont community in Tamarac on Nov. 22.

Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Investigators said Delgado had been shot while inside a car and tried driving away, crashing into a nearby pole.

A candlelight vigil was held for Delgado by friends and family members at the site of the shooting on Thanksgiving.

Detectives said following further investigation, they were able to identify the suspect and served a search warrant at his Margate home.

Deputies have not identified the suspect involved in the shooting but said he was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center in Broward County and faces a charge of felony murder.
