Large trash fires on I-95 cause traffic delays in Miami

MIAMI – Two large fires broke out on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning underneath the overpass near Northwest 79th Street and Northwest Fifth Court in Miami, authorities said.

Sky 10 flew over the highway just after 9 a.m. where plumes of smoke were seen pouring into the air as many passed by on their morning commutes — causing traffic delays.

Miami Fire Rescue officials said the fire erupted early Wednesday morning just two blocks apart.

Firefighters were later able to completely extinguish the flames of what they described as two separate trash fires. Traffic was then able to flow normally.

An investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the fires.
