The FBI is working to solve the case of a missing Florida truck driver whose body was discovered in coastal Georgia.
Federal investigators took over the case after Alejandro Gonzalez went missing on April 17.
Investigators say the day before his disappearance, he picked up several cars in Georgia and was headed toward Miami.
The 41-year-old was last seen at the Brevard County rest area on I-95 southbound in Grant-Valkaria, where he stayed overnight.
The FBI says GPS data from the truck shows someone drove it south one exit before turning back north. That’s when Gonzalez became unreachable.
His truck was later found in Georgia without him and without several of the vehicles he had been transporting to Miami.
The FBI says Gonzalez is originally from Cuba.
No one was at his Port St. Lucie home Wednesday evening, but neighbors say they are hoping the suspected car hauler hijacking is soon solved.
The FBI is asking for photos and video from anyone who may have been near the Brevard County rest stop on the morning of April 17.
Investigators have not released a cause of death, and no persons of interest have been identified.
