NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A man is facing 32 felony charges after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said he sold a burglary victim’s valuables for tens of thousands of dollars.
According to MDSO, that burglary victim lives on the same North Miami Beach street as suspect Elvin Baltazar ― only about five houses down. The victim had been burglarized while out of town from Dec. 16, 2025, and Jan. 28, 2026.
Investigators said Baltazar, 44, made more than $28,000 selling his neighbor’s items at A New Hocke Shoppe, about two blocks away from both of their homes.
The shop, located at 754 NE 167th St., just outside of the North Miami Beach city limits, reported that Baltazar represented the items ― including two Rolex watches ― as his own, the MDSO report states.
Deputies said he sold the items between Jan. 13 and Feb. 23. They said by the time detectives from MDSO and the North Miami Beach Police Department were able to track them to the pawn shop, “a lot” of them had already been sold or scrapped.
Authorities said when they took Baltazar into custody on Thursday and interviewed him, he claimed that his neighbor’s property had been given to him by a friend named “William” to sell and he got $500 from him in return.
Deputies arrested Baltazar, a Dominican national, on nine counts of giving false information to a pawnbroker and 23 counts of dealing in stolen property.
His bond is listed as “to be set” in Miami-Dade jail records.
