MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is facing multiple felony charges after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said she lied about having nursing and massage credentials as part of her business providing services to people recovering from cosmetic surgeries.
Authorities said the investigation into Manouchka Jean-Noel, 27, of Homestead, came after a victim reported to authorities that she ripped her off.
An MDSO arrest report states that Jean-Noel “advertises that she is a nurse and a certified massage therapist” on Instagram for her business, Luxury Cosmetic Curves, touting services like lymphatic drainage massages, drain removal and incision care.
“In one video, (Jean-Noel) is seen giving a patient a lymphatic massage while blood and other fluids are squirting out of an open wound,” the report states.
Authorities said the victim who reported Jean-Noel had paid her a $550 deposit to care for her after surgery, believing that she had the proper credentials.
“The victim never received services from (Jean-Noel) because her surgery was rescheduled,” the report states. “(She) refused to refund the victim and told her to pursue formal options to recover (the) payment.”
Authorities said the victim’s bank refunded her $450 but she was unable to get the $150 back.
Deputies said an undercover investigator began setting up a meeting with Jean-Noel, who agreed to take $3,110 for three days of post-operative care.
Authorities said the two agreed to meet on Wednesday afternoon at the Homewood Suites by Hilton at 5500 Waterford District Drive, near the Miami airport.
She said she told that investigator, accompanied by another undercover investigator “that she was a licensed nurse and that she was a licensed massage therapist,” providing care to post-op clients since 2018.
Authorities said she took a $1,500 deposit and was subsequently arrested in the parking lot.
Deputies said Jean-Noel claimed she didn’t actually provide the care and claimed that a nurse named “T” was the one doing the work. They said she couldn’t give them “T”'s full name or phone number.
Jean-Noel faces two felony and two misdemeanor unlicensed practitioner charges, as well as a felony charge of organized scheme to defraud.
As of Thursday, records show she was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,000 bond.
