DeSantis said it takes great effort to get the results that Florida had and that other states are now looking at Florida as an example of “the state that did it right.”“Of course we had to take action to get to this point,” the governor said. DeSantis said improving the election administration in Florida was his inaugural pledge, which led to the suspension and removal of the elections supervisor in Palm Beach County. DeSantis also accepted the resignation of former Broward County Supervisor of Elections Dr. Brenda Snipes. DeSantis also congratulated Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and fellow Republican Maria Elvira Salazar for their congressional race victories.

Democrat Joe Scott defeated Republican Catherine McBreen on Election Night, AP is projecting. Scott will now be in charge of elections for the 1.2 million registered voters in Broward County. Snipes resigned from the role after she was suspended for her handling of the 2018 Midterm Elections. He graduated from West Point Academy and was awarded the Bronze Star after serving a tour of duty in Iraq.
