The NBA revealed the 15 players Tuesday who will be taking part in the other on-court events besides the All-Star Game in Atlanta, with the overwhelming majority of them pulling double-duty between those competitions and the game itself. They’ll be joined by Portland’s Robert Covington, the only current NBA player who is a graduate of a historically Black college and university. It will be held at halftime of the All-Star Game, while the skills competition and 3-point contest will occur pregame. Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Memphis, Miami, Minnesota, Oklahoma City, Sacramento, San Antonio and Toronto have no one participating in All-Star night events.

Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings became the latest NBA player to reveal that he has the coronavirus, making the announcement Tuesday and saying he has hopes to join his team for the leagues restart later this summer. Barnes is the only player who has started all 64 of the Kings games this season. Prior to the team leaving last week, I tested positive for Covid-19, Barnes wrote on social media. MIAMI Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19, according to multiple reports. The NBA began testing players for the coronavirus this week as it prepares to return to play late next month at Disneys Wide World of Sports complex near Orlando. According to the Sun Sentinel, Jones is asymptomatic and his timetable suggests he could be able to travel with the Heat to Disney in two weeks. Jones, 23, is the reigning NBA dunk contest champ and is averaging 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds this season. A number of other NBA players have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 this week, including the Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic, Indiana Pacers Malcolm Brogdon and Sacramento Kings Buddy Hield, Jabari Parker and Alex Len.
