Hundreds of drivers showed up Tuesday to a procession in honor of Andrea Camps, an 18-year-old Terra Environmental Research Institute student who was killed during a robbery in Miami-Dade County. Camps’ family asked the drivers to avoid stopping to respect social distancing guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic. She is in heaven now.”Hundreds of drivers participated in a procession Tuesday to say good bye to Andrea Camps, a shooting victim in Miami-Dade County. The drivers lined up on 117th Avenue and followed Miami-Dade police officers guiding them near the gravesite where Camps family greeted them in tears. The Camps Lacayo family is planning a mass when her headstone is ready for installation at the graveside.

Funeral home shooting leaves 3 injured in Miami-Dade County

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A shooting left three people injured on Friday night outside of a funeral home near North Miami. According to Detective Christopher Thomas, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, the three males suffered gunshot wounds to the upper torso. About 9:40 p.m., officers responded to the Funeraria Latina Emanuel Funeral Home at 14990 W. Dixie Highway. Thomas said the victims had been attending a wake and paramedics said one of the three victims was critically injured.

Detectives use facial recognition technology to find rapper in Wynwood shooting

After the fatal shooting on North Miami Avenue at Northwest 20th Street, Walker ran away. Aguilar said the Miami Police Department has been testing facial recognition software by Clearview.AI, a New York-based tech company founded in 2017 by a 32-year-old entrepreneur. Lynwood Walker was booked in Miami-Dade County jail on Wednesday to face charges in a Wynwood shooting. (Miami-Dade County)In the Wynwood shooting case, he is facing charges of second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon and second-degree murder. Walker was out on bond when the Wynwood shooting happened.

Sheriff: Customs agent kills 3 family members, then himself

ORLANDO, Fla. – A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent killed three family members, including two juveniles, and then himself at his Florida home, authorities said Thursday night. Deputies learned the family members hadn’t been seen since last week, so they entered the home and found the four bodies, he said. Investigators weren’t immediately identifying the victims or the agent, who worked at the Orlando International Airport. Mina said the dead included a woman in her 30s, a middle-school-age boy and a high-school-age boy. Officials didn’t immediately say how the victims were related to the agent.

Man wanted for killing father of 4 surrenders in Miramar, police say

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Frederick Eugene surrendered Thursday night in Miramar to face charges in the Jan. 31 killing of a 31-year-old father, police said. Detectives had a warrant for the arrest of Eugene, 33, in the fatal shooting of Jimmy Fleurimond, a father of four children whose youngest baby was 4 months old. Eugene is accused of shooting Fleurimond, who worked as a cook, near his home in the 6300 block of Southwest 27th Street in Miramar. No other information was immediately available.

Man dies after shooting in front of Davie home

A Monday night shooting left a family in mourning in Davie and a killer on the loose, according to the Davie Police Department. Lt. Mark Leone, a spokesman for the department, said officers found a man dead inside a car about 9 p.m. in the driveway of a home at 2700 SW 116 Ave., in the Majestic Groves community. Leone said the man was shot several times and the detectives’ investigation was ongoing Tuesday afternoon. Detectives have yet to release the identity of the shooting victim. According to the multiple listing service that real estate brokers use, the 3-bedroom home was listed for $1.08 million on Dec. 6.

Chicago gun violence soars

Chicago has started 2016 by seeing 110 people get shot, an average of one person every three hours. That's nearly triple the amount of gunshot victims the city had last year at this time. Adriana Diaz has more.
