After nearly a decade of crisscrossing the country and the globe for her professional career, Alex Morgan is headed home to Southern California. Morgan is joining the San Diego Wave, which will begin play in the National Women's Soccer League next season. Former Manchester United coach Casey Stoney will lead San Diego in its inaugural year.

Since she stepped down as coach, Ellis has been enjoying time with her family while also riding out the coronavirus pandemic.

Palmer Trinity School (PTS) recently hosted a fireside chat with Jill Ellis, a proud Palmer Trinity parent and head coach to the U.S. Womens National Soccer Team. The discussion included a question and answer session with Palmer Trinity students. Ellis has spent 20 years in the service of the Womens and Girls National Team programs at U.S. Soccer and will depart as the first coach in history to win two consecutive FIFA Womens World Cup titles. Village of Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham attended the Palmer Trinity event where she presented Ellis with a proclamation in her honor. The special program concluded with the school surprising Ellis with a large cake in celebration of her birthday.

A South Florida resident, Ellis' contract was set to expire following the World Cup in France with a mutual option to extend it through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
