There was a moment halfway through seeing Magdalena Bay live for the first time that I thought to myself, “Wow, I feel like I’m watching a live action episode of ‘The Powderpuff Girls’ right now.”

I knew Tegan and Sara’s concert in Detroit wasn’t going to be normal when the twin sister duo walked onto stage with their band with no stage productions going on.

It wasn’t until after the sixth song during MUNA’s nearly sold-out show at the Majestic Theater in Detroit Tuesday night that I looked at my friend and mouthed the word, “Wow,” because that was all I could say.

“Let’s give it up for that midwest rock ‘n’ roll,” said The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach halfway through their headlining show at Michigan’s Pine Knob Music Theater, a venue that is known for hosting legendary Detroit rockers for over 50 years.

It’s pretty safe to say that Jack White had the best day ever on Friday.
