Brian Daboll hires four Giants coaches, including his son

The New York Giants have hired a new running backs coach and added three other staff, including the son of coach Brian Daboll as an offensive assistant. The Giants, who made the playoffs for the first time since 2016, announced Monday that Jeff Nixon was hired as the running backs coach and Chris Smith will take over as the assistant offensive line coach. Nixon replaces DeAndre Smith and Smith takes over for Tony Sparano Jr. Both went to Indianapolis to serve on the staff of new coach Shane Steichen.

Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is back in Philadelphia’s lineup against the New York Giants, his first action since foot surgery last year. Running back Miles Sanders, the Eagles' leading rusher, is also back after missing three games with a knee injury. Okung will miss his fifth game this season because of injury, so Dennis Daley starts, protecting Teddy Bridgewater’s blindside. The Buccaneers are playing without left guard Ali Marpet, who will miss his second consecutive game with a concussion.

Pompano Beach lightning strike victim released from hospital

MIAMI - After 95 days in a hospital, Nick Williams is finally going home. "It's been an uphill battle," Williams said during a news conference Thursday morning at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Williams was under a tree waiting for a storm to pass near his Pompano Beach home in August when he was struck by lightning. On his way to the hospital, he suffered a heart attack, and it took paramedics four minutes to revive him. "His story, to have lightning strike on top of everything he's already been through, is just incredible," Dr. Nicholas Namias said.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - A Pompano Beach man remains unconscious days after being struck by lightning. Nick Williams was outside in the Leasureville community on Sunday, sitting under a tree in his wheelchair when he was hit by the lightning strike. According to a GoFundMe account created in Williams' name, his wheelchair was on fire when the woman arrived. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue found Williams burned and unconscious under the tree in his wheelchair.
