2 detained after northwest Miami-Dade police shootout, crash, chase
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – While police officers were investigating a domestic dispute Thursday afternoon in northwest Miami-Dade County’s Pinewood neighborhood, a brazen shooter opened fire nearby, Miami-Dade police said. Police converge in Miami-Dade County's Pinewood neighborhood. Officers reported hearing the gunshots about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 96th Street and Northwest Ninth Avenue. According to Miami-Dade police Detective Christopher Thomas, officers saw a gunman “hanging out” of a car along Northwest 96th Street, leading to an exchange of gunfire. “The officers are not injured,” Thomas said.
Woman found wounded after shootout between detectives, man on scooter
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two surveillance videos show the events surrounding a Wednesday night shootout between Miami-Dade police detectives and a gunman riding a scooter that injured a woman caught in the crossfire, police said. The shootout occurred just before 9 p.m. near Northwest 66th Street and Northwest 22nd Avenue. Surveillance video shows what appears to be a plain-clothed detective shooting at a man out of frame near a Wings on Fire restaurant. Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said robbery detectives attempted a traffic stop on a man riding a scooter when he opened fire at them. Meanwhile, near Northwest 54th Street and Northwest 22nd Avenue, detectives found a woman inside the red car suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
