Florida’s health department confirmed 13,990 additional cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, plus another 169 resident deaths as a result of the novel coronavirus.
Those totals come a day after Florida became the third state to pass 1.5 million cases.
Florida has now confirmed 1,517,472 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began and 23,396 resident deaths, according to the department of health.
Another 363 non-residents have died within the state, and there have been at least 66,634 resident hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus in Florida since the start of the outbreak.

Deaths verified in the past day include 20 in Miami-Dade County, five in Broward County and eight in Palm Beach County.
The statewide positivity rate on yesterday’s testing was 10.17%.
At least 707,478 vaccines have been administered in the state, with 61,151 people getting both shots. Miami-Dade has had 84,873 vaccinations, Broward has had 62,173 and Monroe 2,254, according to the latest numbers available.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reported is more than 91.9 million. There have been more than 1.9 million deaths worldwide attributed to the pandemic, according to data compiled from various sources by Johns Hopkins University.
The United States has reported 22.9 million confirmed cases and has had more than 382,000 deaths from COVID-19, the highest totals in the world.
