MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Marvin Miguel Bravo, the man accused of attacking a 78-year-old woman in her Miami Beach apartment building last weekend, appeared in court Friday morning. The woman said he attacked her after getting off the elevator, claiming he noticed her on a county bus earlier Saturday and followed her home. Investigators say the 28-year-old Doral man grabbed the victim’s arms, pinned her against the wall, forcibly removed her mask and began to kiss her as she tried to fight him off. Investigators say Bravo at that point let her go and “casually walked toward the emergency exit.”AdDetectives circulated surveillance images of the suspect earlier in the week in attempts of locating him. Bravo, who was on probation, faces multiple charges, including burglary with assault or battery.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A former Broward Health purchasing director was in federal court Friday and stands accused of giving lucrative government contracts to vendors in exchange for bribes, prosecutors say. Brian Bravo, 46, is also accused of directing bribe money to various bank accounts in an attempt to conceal the crimes. Bravo, of Pembroke Pines, worked as the hospital system’s corporate procurement officer and director of materials management for about a decade. From 2008-2015, investigators say Bravo “engaged in a kickback scheme with vendors that provided products and services to Broward Health, including health care products, linens, compression sleeves, and printer repairs. Authorities say the case was investigated by the FBI’s Miami office and it is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey N. Kaplan.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Transport Workers Union of America filed a lawsuit Friday against Miami-Dade County Transportation & Public Works Director Alice Bravo, citing a lack of protection for transit workers amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to the lawsuit, even with reduced ridership, “the county’s public transit system still has a monthly ridership of 1.3 million passengers” as of Tuesday. The union claims transit operators are coming into close contact with tens of thousands of passengers a day, leading to an increased risk of them contracting COVID-19. “Defendant Alice Bravo has failed to provide sufficient personal protective equipment to transit employees -- even though the County has adequate PPE and supplies,” the complaint reads. “She has further not provided transit employees the PPE products within the County’s inventory that provide the highest levels of protection.”The lawsuit claims that Bravo has also failed to provide transit employees with sufficient cleaning products to disinfect their work spaces.
