Head coach Manny Diaz announced Monday morning that D’Eriq King is having season-ending surgery to repair his shoulder injury. The redshirt senior sustained the injury against Michigan State on Sept. 18, and hoped to rehabilitate his shoulder before playing again later this season. “We knew the odds were, with the injury he suffered to his shoulder, that he would probably need surgery to correct it. Between the two games he played in, Van Dyke averaged a 62.5% pass completion rate, passed for 473 yards, and rushed for a net of six yards.

Four-star quarterback Jake Garcia announced his commitment to the University of Miami Wednesday afternoon on an Instagram live. Originally committed to the University of Southern California, Garcia announced his decommitment from the Trojans two weeks ago on social media. Garcia played his first three years of high school in Southern California, but transferred to Valdosta High School in Georgia after California postponed the fall football season. Garcia was then deemed ineligible to play at Valdosta and transferred to Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. With Garcia’s commitment, Miami now has 21 commitments from the 2021 class.
