LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 14-year-old girl for falsely reporting bomb threats that caused evacuations at two Lauderdale Lakes schools Thursday. Deputies said the first threat was called into Lauderdale Lakes Middle School at 9 a.m., with the second threat called into Oriole Elementary School at 9:19 a.m. Both schools were evacuated as a precaution and the threats were determined to be unfounded. Detectives were able to identify the caller as a student at Boyd H. Anderson Senior High School. The teen later confessed to making the phone threats.

According to a Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, a fellow student at Lauderdale Lakes Middle School reported seeing a classmate with a BB gun on a school bus they were riding together. Deputies detained the student, confiscated the BB gun and confirmed it was not used in a threatening manner. In May, police arrested a South Broward High School student after they found a BB gun in the student's backpack. In February, a 12-year-old aimed a BB gun at a staff member and began pulling the trigger.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. - Schools in in Lauderdale Lakes were evacuated after a reported bomb threat Thursday. Sky 10 was over Boyd Anderson High School where students could be seen congregating on the athletic fields. Lauderdale Lakes Middle School students were also evacuated, as were those at Oriole Elementary School. Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Miranda Grossman confirmed that Crime Stoppers received a tip about the threat made against the high school and middle school. She said the elementary school was evacuated as a precaution because of its proximity to the schools.
