MIAMI BEACH, Fla. Parking employees in Miami Beach last week received messages notifying them that their full-time position is being converted to part-time status at 28 hours/week, blaming the drastic measures on COVID-19s economic impact. John Woodruff, the citys chief financial officer, says they are not privatizing the parking department and that the plan is to offer displaced employees jobs in other departments, while also bringing in part-time staff from outside companies. MIAMI BEACH, Fla. โ€“ The partyโ€™s over early on South Beach, at least for the days when spring breakers descend on the city. Commissioners voted 5-2 to ban booze after 3 a.m. in the entertainment district, for six days in March. This comes after last yearโ€™s beach brawls and street fights that made for embarrassing headlines for the city. And weโ€™re just devastated.โ€Other club and restaurant owners spoke out, too, saying it was going to harm their businesses. Mayor Dan Gelber told Local 10 he thinks the last call rollback is the best solution, for now.
