MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - Miami-Dade police investigators are asking the community to help locate the driver of a silver Nissan Maxima that struck and killed a pedestrian in late September. Freddy Sanchez, 29, was walking home from work at about 8 p.m. Sept. 25 when he was struck by a driver along Northwest 79th Street and Northwest 10th Avenue. Police along with the family of the victim returned to the scene to hand out flyers. Sanchez was found lying in the street before being rushed to the hospital, while the driver of vehicle was nowhere to be found. "It's really, really a bad feeling that someone would do something to another human being and just don't run (for) any kind of help," his father, Freddy Sanchez Sr., said.

He was hit so hard that the car's bumper came off, along with Sanchez's shoes. Witnesses said he went airborne.

The bumper may be the piece needed to solve a hit-and-run case, but Miami-Dade police are still asking for the public's help. Police said 29-year-old Freddy Sanchez was walking in the 1000 block of Northwest 79th Street when he was hit by a vehicle. The active police scene shut down a significant portion of Northwest 79th Street on Wednesday night, while detectives scoured the scene. Police were able to pinpoint the make and model of the car because of the bumper, which was found at the scene. They said the car would be missing a front bumper and would likely have damage to the front windshield.
