Miami-Dade County leaders are ditching a plan to run buses down the Dolphin Expressway and are instead considering two new options, including a Metromover line running above Flagler Street as part of a long-term plan to connect downtown Miami with Florida International University, according to a report in Miami Today.

Officers find Metromover bomb threat was not credible
MIAMI – A caller threatened to have placed bombs on the Metromover in downtown Miami. After a Thursday evening investigation, officers found the threat was not credible. Officers evacuated areas at the Metromover stops for Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus at 300 NE Second Ave., and Bayside Marketplace at 401 Biscayne Blvd. According to Officer Kiara Delva, a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, the officers were still investigating the source of the threats. Family of elderly man attacked on Metromover suing Miami-Dade and security company
MIAMI – Miami-Dade County and Allied Universal security failed to take action quickly enough to prevent the attack of an elderly man on a Metromover train Sunday morning, an attorney representing Eduardo Fernandez and his family says. Fernandez, 73, suffered broken bones and internal injuries in the violent beating, which came a couple weeks after three other attacks on the Metromover. Now, the family is planning to file a lawsuit against the county and Allied. “The family wants to use this lawsuit as a vehicle to promote safety,” Attorney Alan Goldfarb said Wednesday. Leaders in Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami have since pledged to increase patrols and security.
Man arrested in connection with brutal beating of 73-year-old on Miami Metromover
MIAMI – A man was arrested Monday, a day after he allegedly beat a 73-year-old man on the Metromover near the Adrienne Arsht Center, authorities said. Robert Lee Ribbs, 62, is accused of beating a man on the Metromover in Miami. Arrest made in connection with brutal attack on Miami MetromoverAccording to the arrest report, Ribbs confessed to beating Fernandez, and when approached by officers said, “Hey, man, I know what this is about. MDPD arrested the suspect (pictured) who is accused of being involved in a case of aggravated battery on the Metromover. In that case, Joshua King, 25, was arrested and accused of attacking three people on the Metromover on the same day.
73-year-old man latest victim of Miami Metromover attack
A 73-year-old man was on his way to work as a parking valet Sunday morning when he was beaten. Eduardo Fernandez was viciously attacked after he boarded the Metromover at Government Center on the short trip to the Omni terminal. His son, Christian, said Eduardo managed to get off the train and walk two blocks before he collapsed. Police showed Christian a still image from surveillance video of the man who beat his father — he doesn’t believe it is King. It’s doesn’t look like the same person,” Christian said.
Video shows man beat woman alone in Miami’s Metromover before attacking 2 others
MIAMI – Surveillance video shows Joshua James King recently beating up Andrea Puerta while she was alone inside Miami’s Metromover, police said. King, 25, punched Puerta, 29, more than 20 times during the Sept. 4 attack. A man attacked a woman who was alone in the Metromover in Miami.
