As Israel declared war on Sunday, amid a major conflict with Hamas in the south and a Hezbollah attack in the north, synagogues in South Florida increased security.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - In July, Carlints St. Louis, 30, pulled up in a black Chevrolet Impala and fired his 9 mm semi-automatic pistol at a North Miami Beach synagogue multiple times, officers said. Surveillance video released by the temple shows St. Louis pull up in the Impala. The case received worldwide attention and officers were able to use license plate technology and cellphone geolocation data to name St. Louis as a possible suspect. The day before his arrest, St. Louis stopped at the Hallandale Beach Police Department to report that his gun had been stolen from his vehicle. St. Louis is being held in Miami-Dade jail without bail and faces an attempted murder charge.

Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said her office is working to determine whether St. Louis should be charged with a hate crime. There was a sense of relief among worshipers at the synagogue Wednesday, almost a month after the shooting.

St. Louis, of Hallandale Beach, is a Hertz Rent A Car employee, and he was arrested at shopping mall in North Miami Beach, according to the arrest form. Lifshutz was born in Rochester, New York, and is an active member of Young Israel of North Miami Beach. After the shooting received worldwide attention, detectives used data from license plate readers and St. Louis' mobile cellphone records to identify him as a suspect. St. Louis is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - The shooter who targeted a Jewish man on his way to Minchah prayer service at the Young Israel of Greater Miami is armed and dangerous, Miami-Dade Police Department detectives said on Monday night. According to Dr. Damon Salzman, the president of Young Israel of Greater Miami, the victim is Yosef Lifshutz, 68. Miami-Dade police officers were standing guard outside of the Young Israel of Greater Miami and Aventura police officers increased security at the hospital. Farley Weiss, the president of the National Council of Young Israel, said he has seen a rise in anti-Semitism this year. Miami-Dade detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooter to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel found the man shot in the leg. The Yeshiva World reported the victim is Yosef Noach ben Leah Tzivyah, who was waiting for Mincha, the afternoon prayer service in Judaism.
