BRADENTON, Fla. – Florida authorities say they’ve filed a voter fraud charge against a man who said he said he “wanted to test the system” when he tried to obtain a mail-in ballot for his deceased wife. Manatee County Supervisor of Elections Mike Bennett said he contacted the sheriff’s office after a review of voter rolls. Bennett said his staff reviews the voter rolls for each mail-in ballot request and it was discovered the woman had been deceased for two years. They determined that Wiggins forged his late wife’s name on the ballot request, according to the Bradenton Herald. Researchers say that voter fraud in general is rare in the United States.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Bullock was fatally shot while helping a motorist on Interstate 95 in Martin County. There they found the body of 30-year-old Joel Parks, Capt. Parks was a man with disabilities who lived in a group home during the week and with his grandmother, Lillian Parks, on the weekend. In this case, I don't know if she's thinking about the wellbeing of her grandson or if she's thinking about herself," Thiers said, according to CNN affiliate WFLA.
