MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – After three men broke into a home on Monday in Miami-Dade County, Jorge Hernandez fired a shotgun inside, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department. A woman was shot in the arm and a man was shot in the abdomen. The woman who was injured told police officers she knows Hernandez, 38, a convicted felon who was on probation during the shooting, Garcia, 31, and Murado, 37. Officers found Hernandez had about half a gram of what appeared to be crack cocaine, and Murado had about a gram of cocaine, according to Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department records. On Tuesday, Hernandez, Garcia, and Murado were facing charges of burglary in an occupied dwelling and attempted murder.
Firefighters climb on ladder at hospital to support colleague with coronavirus
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami-Dade firefighter remained hospitalized Saturday with COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the new coronavirus. While gasping his air, he recorded a video to thank his colleagues from the Hammocks Fire Station 36 for surprising him. A spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue described the surprise outside of the building with a fire truck and cards, as a “Get Well Soon” visit.
Officials report first COVID-19 case in Miami-Dade County, 5th case in Broward County
