Sheriff's in Broward and Martin County issued a warning for Toyota drivers on Thursday saying that the Tundra and Tacoma are on the hotlist for having the most catalytic converters stolen in the United States.
DeSantis announces new vaccine sites at select Publix stores in South Florida
DeSantis said seven Publix locations in Martin County will also offer the vaccine. For Broward’s mayor, the issue right now isn’t the number of vaccination sites, but rather the number of doses available. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava released a statement saying: “Miami-Dade is home to over 10% of all Florida seniors 65+. Earlier this month, DeSantis announced that several Publix locations in the state would serve as COVID-19 vaccination sites for seniors. Registration at the Publix vaccination sites in South Florida opens at 6 a.m. Wednesday and appointments will begin on Thursday.
Florida reports 1st coronavirus case with more infectious British strain
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health reported on Thursday night that a Florida man was infected with the more infectious coronavirus strain that was first detected in the United Kingdom. The case of the British variant is not travel-related and involves a man in his 20s who lives in Martin County, officials announced on Twitter on New Year’s Eve. Colorado health officials reported the first non-travel-related case in the U.S. on Tuesday. Public health officials are asking the public to wear a face mask, wash hands often, and social distance. Florida has evidence of the first identified case of the UK COVID-19 variant in Martin County.
Amber Alert issued for 13-year-old Florida girl
HOBE SOUND, Fla. An Amber Alert has been issued for Kimberly Newberry-Ohler, 13, who was last seen in the area of the 7500 Block of Southeast Dove Street in Hobe Sound. She was last seen wearing a black and white striped shirt, black pants with a red and white stripe, and white croc shoes. According to the alert from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, she may be in the company of two white adult males in a black two-door truck with a roof rack. Memorial service held for trooper fatally shot on I-95
BRADENTON, Fla. – A memorial service was held Thursday for a Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was killed in the line of duty. Family, friends and colleagues from throughout the state gathered to say goodbye to Trooper Joseph Bullock in his hometown of Bradenton. Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Bullock was fatally shot while helping a motorist on Interstate 95 in Martin County. Shortly thereafter, a Riviera Beach police officer who was passing by shot Reed, killing him. Ron DeSantis was among the attendees at Bullock’s memorial service.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The body of a Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was fatally shot after he stopped to help a motorist was escorted across the state Friday morning. Trooper Joseph Bullock was killed Wednesday on Interstate 95 in Martin County. The tow truck driver, who hasn't been identified, said Reed was upset about having to pay for a towing service when he shot Bullock. Trooper Joseph Bullock was fatally shot by Frankin Reed III, who was then shot to death by a Riviera Beach police officer. Man accused of killing trooper was angry over tow truck payment, authorities say
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. – A tow truck driver in Martin County told investigators that the man who is accused of killing Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Bullock on Wednesday morning was upset over having to pay for the towing service. Trooper Joseph Bullock was killed Wednesday in a shooting at a I-95 rest stop in Martin County. Riviera Beach Police Officer Jemel Headings was off-duty when he saw Bullock was in trouble and pulled over to help him. The “Riviera Beach police officer, who was passing by, engaged the suspect fatally shooting him," FHP Col. Gene Spaulding said. DaWayne Watson, a firefighter-paramedic with the Riviera Beach Fire-Rescue Department, was on his way home when he saw Bullock was bleeding.

PALM CITY, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was killed in a shooting Wednesday on Interstate 95 in Martin County. Trooper Joseph Bullock was fatally shot in the line of duty while assisting the public, the FHP said in a news release. Spaulding said Bullock was attempting to help someone in a disabled vehicle when that person fatally shot him. All lanes of I-95 were closed near mile marker 107 between Martin Highway and Kanner Highway as several Florida Highway Patrol troopers, Martin County deputies and investigators from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement could be seen gathered in the area. “It is truly a tragedy and it will take a long time for the Florida Highway Patrol to heal,” Spaulding said.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that Justin Skiff, 29, was fishing offshore in a 14-foot aluminum boat Tuesday morning but never returned. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Coast Guard assisted in the search for Skiff, with members of the Coast Guard ultimately finding him. Authorities said Skiff was said to be safe. No other details were immediately released.

Jean was brought back to Martin County and is facing a bond of $400,000 on felony charges of armed carjacking and armed kidnapping.

The investigation led detectives to Miami-Dade County, where the suspect was identified and apprehended. Snyder said Jean was brought back to Martin County and is facing a bond of $400,000 on felony charges of armed carjacking and armed kidnapping.
