Sheriff: Customs agent kills 3 family members, then himself
ORLANDO, Fla. – A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent killed three family members, including two juveniles, and then himself at his Florida home, authorities said Thursday night. Deputies learned the family members hadn’t been seen since last week, so they entered the home and found the four bodies, he said. Investigators weren’t immediately identifying the victims or the agent, who worked at the Orlando International Airport. Mina said the dead included a woman in her 30s, a middle-school-age boy and a high-school-age boy. Officials didn’t immediately say how the victims were related to the agent.
Boy, 9, charged with attempted murder of 5-year-old sister
OCALA, Fla. – A 9-year-old boy has been charged with trying to kill his 5-year-old sister by stabbing her with a kitchen knife inside their Florida apartment last month, officials said. The boy was charged Tuesday with attempted first-degree murder and appeared in court on Wednesday in the central Florida city of Ocala, prosecutors said. When she returned, she said she found the boy stabbing his sister with a kitchen knife in a bedroom. The child told investigators he thought of killing his sister two days before the Jan. 28 stabbing, Ocala police said. The public defender's office is awaiting results of a competency examination that will determine whether the boy understands the charges, the Ocala Star-Banner reported.
Coral Gables police arrest boxer Gervonta Davis after domestic violence incident
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Coral Gables police have arrested American boxer Gervonta Davis over a domestic incident that occurred Saturday with his child’s mother at a celebrity basketball event. Cellphone video of the incident at the University of Miami’s Watsco Center at 1245 Dauer Drive shows the victim sitting courtside at the event. According to his arrest report, however, surveillance video from the venue shows a partial view of Davis striking the woman in the face. Coral Gables police said the woman sustained injuries to her lip and jaw. She provided a written statement of the incident, which was consistent with the footage, authorities said.
